The Eunice Courir de Mardi Gras was bigger than ever–some 3,000 participants, according one account. It stretched for at least a mile down the country roads east of Eunice.

The chicken-chasing photos were all taken at the home of Aaron and Wedna Smith. Each year, Aaron Smith, often referred to as the Mayor of Patasa, throws a number of chickens to the Mardi Gras.

Also on this page are photos of a couple of LSUE students posing, a former LSUE student doing a Mardi Gras split, and the Red Stick Ramblers, one of three bands on wagons in the courir, accompanied by their entourage, shown in another photo.
